A Month at 1871. Whoa.

Lots of things happen in a month, especially for a startup. Here are a few noteworthy things that happened at SweetPerk in the last 30 days. With pictures!

  • April 24th – Moved into 1871, our fantastic new workspace in Merchandise Mart. The other companies we’re working with are amazing and inspirational. We seriously can’t keep up with the speakers and other programming that 1871 has organized. With beer & pizza on Fridays, Intelligentsia behind us, and Galaga & Donky Kong waiting for us in the next room, let us describe things in one word: superb.
    • Aside: Come visit us! 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza, 12th floor, Suite 1212. We’d love to show you the space. We recommend showing up around 3:45pm on Fridays ;) .
    • Facade of Merchandise Mart.

This greets us when we come in. Can’t miss our office!

  • May 2nd – 1871 held their formal Grand Opening and converted the space into a chic night club. Food, drinks, and tons of entertainment. Check out our full Facebook photo gallery.
  • 1871 Opening Night

  • Lighting was impressive.

  • May 2nd – We redesigned our website. Our mobile apps are part of a platform called LiveLocal (also redesigned). We launched a new service, Salt, an SMS-based feedback platform. More details on that to come soon…
  • May 12th – Austin and Phil raced the River Bank 10k in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is our summer strategy for staying fit! We’re planning to race the Chicago Half Marathon in September.
  • May 16th – The UTC Norman app, our first entry into the mall market, went live. This is an exciting opportunity to add new customers to our growing network. The app will be formally publicized in June, so if you’re a Norman, OK resident, get stoked.
  • Norman, OK: our first app for a mall property.

  • British Prime Minister David Cameron visited the workspace during the NATO summit. That was an exciting (and early) Sunday morning.
  • British Prime Minister David Cameron speaking with fellow 1871 tenants.

Stay tuned to see what develops next month. Our first order of business: more frequent blog posts!
